June 8, 2007. Space Shuttle Atlantis is a small tip on the trailing column of fire and smoke after launching on its journey to the International Space Station on mission STS-117. Liftoff from Launch Pad 39A was on-time at 7:38:04 pm (EDT). Wide angle view allows you to spot the famous countdown clock at the bottom of the frame. The unmanned Antares rocket spewed fire in what looked like an Armageddon-esque scene, causing severe damages to its takeoff location in Wallops Island. It is unclear if anyone was hurt.

A couple of rem-cam images from the North Side of the launch pad. SpaceX usually doesn’t have this location available. It’s nice for a change.

Location! Location! Location! achieved a major milestone this week: US Air Force awarded us a launch pad (LC-16) at Cape Canaveral. Only three other companies to have done so before us: SpaceX, United Launch and Blue Origin Onwards!

Déjà vu...I'm back at launch pad 39A...just visited this historic location a few weeks back with and back today

Most launch providers, & Roscosmos typically post launch times in local time. If you know the launch pad location and the UTC offset, the conversion is trivial.

About 330 yards away, approx 1000ft. Same location as the SpaceX webcast cameras. It’s inside the fence of the launch pad. A Nasa rule says we need to pickup our cameras long after the launch. In this case, next day. So I’ll be getting them in about 6 hours.

Theoretically if SpaceX were to make their own launch pad, depending on the location, they could have everything land on land, making everything significantly easier

NASA and SpaceX will send astronauts from a launch pad at Kennedy Space Centre next month. It's the first rocket launch from U.S. soil since the shuttle Atlantis departed from the same location in July 2011.

Only saw one night time space shuttle launch from the nearest launch pad 39 viewing location. Mind blowing! My kids will never forget it. The SpaceX Falcon Heavy has 2.5x the power. Second only to the Saturn V moon launch rocket. It launches this year.

Elon just said that Starship(presumably at least in Boca Chica, if not in both locations) will be almost flight ready by August 24th, and Boca Chica has no infrastructure for true launch pads so they must be planning on not having to use a launch pad, at least down in Texas

Today's SpaceX launch has been officially scrubbed for today due to a storm cell over launch pad. Because the International Space Station destination has to be in a precise orbital location for the launch, the window is officially closed. Stay tuned for a new date.

In a couple of years when Starship is flying, SpaceX could provide this service. Take a couple of F9s, slightly modify to allow rapid vertical integration, build a dedicated launch pad at each location, and bill the Military for the entire project, including standby crew! 1/2

It appears as if our tracked leatherback sea turtle named Vixen is ready for tonight's launch. Her latest location is only about 15 kilometers from the historic LC-39A launch pad!

The launch window is when the launch trajectory to the desired orbit inclination matches the location of the launch pad. You know the wavy line that you see when the ISS etc orbit is projected on the map? You launch when that line is overhead, saves a lot of fuel.
